The declared goal of the bartender Milo is to settle down with a dream woman and his own bar. Before that can happen, however, he still has to convince the woman of his dreams of his plan and raise the required finances – by credit or with a cocaine deal? A high-spirited romantic comedy about the nightlife of Berlin.
The natty bartender Milo is of the opinion that at some point, one is simply too old for the hustle and bustle of Berlin's nightlife, which is why he dreams of settling down with his own bar and perfect woman. But first he has to scrape together enough money and meet the right lady. The latter is not long in coming, and Milo quickly sets up a date with the beautiful redhead named Sunny. The capable dream woman, however, is all set to take up a new job in the USA – that has to be prevented. On top of that, there is Milo's chaotic buddy Renzo, who first destroys all chances of a bank loan for the start-up funding of a business and then attempts to get the financing with one very last and tiny drug deal. Unluckily, the drugs are lost and suddenly the two have (what feels like) half the underworld after them. And so an as audacious as fast-paced chase full of outrageously comic complications is undertaken through Berlin's multifaceted nightlife!

Reviews and Commentary:
"In a script distantly reminiscent of John Landis's Into the Night as well as of the German film Victoria (also with Frederick Lau), characters and events unexpectedly, cleverly, and quickly become intertwined, with the knots of the criminal entanglements only being cut in an ingeniously simple way at the happy end. Alongside the main two actors – Elyas M'Barek as the likeable Milo and Frederick Lau as the blundering Renzo, a duo that already harmonised in The Perfect Secret – the amusing supporting actors also delight. Director Simon Verhoeven (Men in the City) once again proves his penchant for crazy dialogue and antics that appear to owe their existence to a pure enjoyment of fun, like the in-film music video of a Bavarian 'bachelor' trio (with a Verhoeven cameo). This odyssey through Berlin's party scenes, including a game night and a dance hall, also offers something in regard to atmosphere. The secret of success here, as in Verhoeven's previous comedies, is a knack for tact and timing: the staging is burlesque but not too trite; it is, despite the use of energetic pop music, not overloaded with music; it is never smutty, and, above all, never pompous. In this sense, the wheel is not reinvented in this crossbreed of romance and crime comedy. The nimbleness of these three involuntary night owls is nevertheless refreshing, and not only when using German film as the benchmark."

"Things can easily go wrong. Twice at the same time. Bartender Milo (Elyas M'Barek) is kissed on the eye by his buddy Renzo (Frederick Lau) – unfortunately, Renzo just ate something really spicy. As for Sunny (Palina Rojinski), while trying to drink away her frustration at being single, gets a cocktail umbrella in the eye. Now both are wearing an eye patch. And that's how they meet. It is love at first sight – but with visual impairment. The truism that love makes you blind also takes on a whole new meaning. [...] The perfect date turns into a huge disaster because now the fair maiden also has to run from the crooks. From here onwards, the newly infatuated have to barrel through the day- and nightlife of the city. They end up not only in trendy bars and disreputable dancing dives, but also at a tea dance for seniors and white-bread game night. [...] Verhoeven already wanted to make the film years ago, when he himself was still hitting the hotspots. Nowadays, he spends his nights writing screenplays. And this is the result. Once, Dennis Gansel also wanted to make a vampire film about the techno scene. And he didn't get around to it until ten years later, when the techno era was already over – and he was too old for it. Nightlife, anyways, proves that even movies can really look old. And no eye patch can help against it."
