A long, intensive workshop held at Goethe-Institut Sudan. The aim of the workshop was to train and empower a group of young Sudanese people in the field of filmmaking. At the conclusion of the project, a number of new young editors, videographers and directors had been trained and six films had been produced.
ORANGE TINT
Orange Tint takes a look at some aspects of daily life for young Sudanese urban women who are largely hidden from public view.
The film shows us how a group of young Sudanese women with unconventional opinions spend their days in Khartoum - between moments of leisure and harmony and heated discussions about various topics. We learn something about them as people and gain an insight into their concerns and the things they talk about on a typical "girls' day out". The film crew accompanies them while they discuss their problems, ambitions, joys and fears.

IN SEARCH OF HIP HOP
On stage they are Mojo, DZA the Dissenter, MC Mo, the BiB and LUAL. Who are these Sudanese artists at the center of an emerging hip hop scene in Khartoum?
Why is rap a means of expression for young Sudanese people? Who are their audiences? What inspired them to become hip hop artists? We meet a small group of young men who introduce themselves as hip hop artists and MCs. We see them at work in the recording studio and performing live - both in the city and at a major hip hop event, the “Sudan Boom Box”. We get a taste of the flavor of Sudanese hip hop by getting a glimpse of their talent.

THE RABBABA MAN
For the artist and craftsman Muhammad “Haraka” singing traditional songs at suburban markets is more than just a job. His performances play an essential role within the social life of his neighbourhood.
Artist and craftsman Muhammad Modier – or Muhammad “Haraka” as prefers to be called – lives in Ombadda in the western outskirts of the city of Omdurman. For over twenty years the people of this impoverished and overpopulated neighborhood have watched him riding his bicycle to the local markets. There he performs songs from all over Sudan at the request of his customers and sells his colorful rabbabas (traditional string instruments). Muhammad is a rich character full of feeling and talent. His strong will has helped him to survive even the worst of situations.

SITTANA

Sittana tells us about her life: growing up in the old city of Omdurman, Sudan's former capital; her father's influence on her; the moments when she was close to giving up but managed to get back to her special way of life. We also get an insight into the colorful world of her art, which seems to be an infinite source of positive energy for her and her environment.
