Coincidences in Prepositions
The project, developed together by Renan Laru-an and titre provisoire (Cathleen Schuster/Marcel Dickhage), provides access to methodology, theory and historicism in successive times: first, mediated through language, gestures and performative moments in a series of zoom events (All the Missing Limbs of a Pre/oposition); then second, through the travelling film screen that brings the output of a single artist to the intersection of a research/university museum (Harun Farocki Institute, Vargas Museum, Manila); and third, through inter-contextual contributions that are virtually published, coded and edited for future readers*.
Since November 2021, various non-thematic and public Zoom events have taken place, bringing together different approaches and viewpoints. The publication programme "Coincidences in Prepositions" addresses questions, theses and approaches that have emerged in the dis/continuities of many colonial milieus. Drawing on what is seemingly imprecise and incomplete for the chosen project - in terms of scales, gradients, and panics that are recognisable or possible to turn to at this moment - Coincidences addresses the difficulty of relating different worlds through their traditions, images, and imaginaries. To this end, Prepositions looks at theoretical and practical assemblages developed to function within pre-existing techno-moral procedures and to deal with ever-changing ethical systems.
