Thirty years after the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Goethe-Institut in Sarajevo and Kyiv and Solomiya Magazine Berlin/Kyiv invite audiences on 20 November to an exhibition and panel discussion critically examining the colonial character of peace agreements and their aftermath. In addition, artists Bojan Stojčić and Bojana Videkanić will present their interactive performance “Happy Peace” on 21 November, and on 22 November, SARTR will host a staged reading of the documentary theatre play Don't Dream Dreams by Tahir Herenda.
To present the fifth issue of Solomiya Magazine – After Now, editors Ivanna Kozachenko (Kyiv) and Sebastian Wells (Berlin) will hold a panel discussion on 20 November at the Goethe-Institut with legal scholar Tahir Herenda (Sarajevo) and artists Bojan Stojčić (Sarajevo) and Volodymyr Prylutskyi (Kyiv) about the implementation of peace agreements, reconciliation processes and their consequences in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine.
Accompanying the discussion, the Goethe-Institut's Media & Art Lab will present an exhibition featuring the video work Hotel Hope Phantom (2024) by Bojan Stojčić, Шубін (“Shubin,” 2025) by American artist Sam Lewitt, and State Institution (2018) by Ukrainian artist duo Roman Khimei and Yarema Malashchuk, as well as the installation Перемова (“Negotiation”) by Volodymyr Prylutskyi.
On 21 November at 6:00 p.m., Bojan Stojčić and Bojana Videkanić invite you to the interactive performance “Happy Peace”, during which participants from Sarajevo and Washington will jointly cut and eat a Dayton-inspired cake.

November 21 marks 30 years of the Dayton Peace Agreement which gave shape to today's Bosnia and Herzegovina. Two capitals an ocean apart, Washington D.C. and Sarajevo, are joining together in marking this day. A special Dayton-inspired cake will be baked and served in a simultaneous overseas collective performance.

The staged reading of Tahir Herenda's play Don't Dream Dreams critically examines not only the role of the Dayton Peace Agreement, but also the political decisions and ideologies that led to this agreement and shaped modern society in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through authentic statements by international diplomats and politicians, the play examines the stereotypes, interests and power mechanisms that established the country's ethnic-territorial structure.

To accompany the events marking the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Heinrich Böll Foundation is publishing a series of interviews entitled “Ethnofetishism – or: The Banality of Ideas”, conceived and written by journalist Judith Brand.
