1. General Conditions
All Courses are designed for participants aged 16 years and above.
2. Registration Procedure
2.1 At the time of course enrolment, a copy of your passport or smart card or (NID+birth certificate in English) must be submitted. Additionally, one recent passport size and one stamp size photos are needed.
2.2 At the time of exam enrolment, a copy of your passport or smart card must be submitted along with two recent passport size photos. The candidate must carry the original passport or smart card & the examination card issued by Goethe-Institut Bangladesh on the day of examination. Failure to produce these documents leads to the exclusion from exams. Examination fees cannot be reimbursed.
3. Terms of Payment
Fees have to be paid either by cash paid at the institute or via bank transfer. Payment by installment is not possible. We do not accept cheques, credit and debit cards.
*Please note that during the COVID-19 situation, we will not accept any cash payments.
4. Course Fees
The contractually binding course fee is the fee stated in the price list of the latest course brochure at the time of enrolment. Unless stated otherwise books must be purchased separately.
5. Cancellation and Refunds (Courses)
5.1 In case of cancellations, students must apply in writing at least
10 days prior to the start of the course. The course fee will be refunded, deducting an administrative fee of BDT 4,000.
5.2 Students are kindly requested to consider their personal commitments and circumstances before enrolment, fees are not refundable once the course has started.
5.3 We reserve the right to cancel courses with
less than 10 students up to 48 hours before to the commencement of the course. In this case a full refund of the course fee paid will be given. No other costs except the course fee will be refunded.
6. Examination fees
6.1 The contractually binding examination fee is the fee stated in the price list of the latest course brochure at the time of enrolment.
6.2 Course participants can sit for an examination of the corresponding level as an internal candidate for up to three months after the end of their course.
6.3 Students enrolled in a Standard Course must complete both parts of a level, i.e. A1.1 and A1.2, with the Goethe-Institut in order to be accepted as an internal candidate for the respective examination.
7. Cancellation and refunds (examinations)
7.1 If a candidate cannot take an examination on medical grounds, a copy of medical certificate has to be submitted to the language course office.
7.2 In case of cancellations, a candidate must apply at least 10 days prior to the start of the exam, the exam fee will be refunded, deducting an administrative fee of BDT 2,000.
8. Change of Course
The choice of class and the chosen time slot are binding. Changes are not allowed.
9. Placement test
9.1 Candidates seeking admission to A1 Level at Goethe-lnstitut Bangladesh are not required to appear for any placement test.
9.2 Students having prior knowledge of German and desiring to join a higher-level course or students with a gap of more than nine months from their last Goethe-Examination have to take the level test prior to the registration. Placement in higher course levels is based on the result of the level test conducted.
9.3 Candidates with a gap of more than 9 months from their last Goethe-Examination, please refer to the table below for regulation on placement test and re-examination:

9.4 The placement test costs BDT 2,500, the same being non-refundable & non-transferable
10. Responsibilities of the participants
10.1 The course participant is obliged to refrain from actions that could hamper the legal interests of third parties (teachers, schoolmates, employees and visitors of the Goethe Institute) or interfere with the proper conduct of teaching. The use of mobile phones during classes is strongly prohibited. During course times, students are allowed to carry their electronic devices such as- mobile phones, laptops, tab, smart watch etc. into the building but they must exercise caution in using these. Audio or video recording of classes is strictly prohibited. Bags and other stuff (other than course materials) must be kept in the lockers before entering into the building. Students are required to keep the keys to the lockers to themselves and must return these to the guards when going outside the Institut’s premises.
10.2 Students have to preserve their admit cards to collect certificates. Certificates have to be collected within 6 weeks after the publishing of result.
11. Liability
11.1 The liability of the Goethe-Institut and its staff shall be limited to intent and gross negligence. The Goethe-Institut will have no liability for cancellation of its services due to force majeure (e.g. unrest, act of war or terrorism, natural calamities, epidemics, pandemics and all other circumstances beyond the control of the contractual parties).
11.2 Should such cases of extraordinary circumstances or events occur or should there be a change in the existing circumstances or events, caused by factors that are beyond the sphere of influence of the Goethe-Institut, the Institut shall reserve the right to make changes in the ongoing course structure (e.g. in terms of time, methodology or format). Should the circumstances not allow the above-mentioned changes, in that case the Goethe-Institut reserves the right to cancel the course without any alternative offer and financial compensation.

12.2 For exam script inspection, the candidate must send an email to the Language Department at:
language2-dhaka@goethe.de within 5 days after the results are published. The language department will then set a date for the inspection. If the appointed time is not kept, no further date or time will be given.
