Week of German 2026

In 2026, the Week of German celebrates its fifth edition. Through events, encounters and interactive activities across Belgium, it invites audiences to discover the diversity of the German language and culture. Whether through film, literature, language, education, cultural activities or exchange, the anniversary edition showcases the many ways German can be experienced in Belgium.

The Goethe-Institut Belgium contributes its own programme to the Week of German 2026. On this page, you will find all Goethe-Institut events taking place during the anniversary edition. For the full programme, including numerous events and initiatives organised by our partners throughout Belgium, please visit www.wochefuerdeutsch.be.

The fifth nationwide Week of German in Belgium 2026 is a joint initiative of the German Embassy in Brussels, Goethe-Institut Belgium, the Belgian Association of Germanists and Teachers of German (BGDV), the German-speaking Community of Belgium, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Deutschcafé, KULTURforum Antwerp, BRF, AHK debelux and other partner organisations, including representatives of the DACHL countries in Brussels. All Belgian universities and universities of applied sciences offering German studies also participate in the initiative.
