Events and Competitions

Activating pupils is one of the most important – and sometimes most difficult – challenges any teacher faces. The Goethe-Institut Kanada has therefore put together a series of cultural events and competitions designed to help you motivate your pupils and to make learning German more fun.

Nationale Deutscholympiade (NDO) 2025

The Deutscholympiade is an exciting competition for young German learners, allowing them to demonstrate their enthusiasm for the German language and meet other German learners in Canada! The Nationale Deutscholympiade (NDO), the Canadian preliminary round of the Internationale Deutscholympiade (IDO), took place over the weekend at the Goethe-Institut Montreal.

We look back on a weekend of fun and unforgettable encounters and congratulate our two winners: Mark Afanasiev (Montreal) and Dracen Lim (Saskatoon) – we are very happy that you will be representing Canada next year at the Internationale Deutscholympiade and wish you the best of luck!

We look back to a great weekend full of fun and unforgettable encounters and congratulate our two winners: Victoria Ngoy Ndomvbe from Montreal and Carter Whitehead from Toronto! In the Summer of 2024, they will represent Canada in the largest international German competition, the IDO in Göttingen.
