Join us at the Goethe-Institut Toronto for the next edition of our Media Mingle series in June, where we continue our journey into the diverse world of popular German music.
Each month, our Media Lounge becomes a space for cultural discovery and community connection. This time, we will highlight some of Germany’s most iconic artists and songs from the 2010s, a transformative decade that rearranged the hierarchy of music genres and revolutionized the way most people acquired music. New singer-songwriters who incorporated pop rock, soul, and folk sounds in their music emerged. With the increased influence of streaming services over billboard charts, hip-hop and rap music became the most popular genres.a diverse, high-energy era defined by the rise of digital streaming, dominating pop, hip-hop, emotional rock, and R&B.
We will introduce each featured artist, followed by a listening session with music videos showcasing their work. Lyrics will be provided in both German and English to help you engage with the music. Afterwards, you will have the chance to discuss the music and share your thoughts with fellow attendees.
