This period drama tells the true story of Hans Rosenthal, a beloved 1970s German game-show host and Holocaust survivor whose cheerful public persona hides deep wartime trauma. In 1978, he faces a moral crisis when a live broadcast of his show is scheduled on the 40th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the pogrom that shattered his family. Invited to attend Germany’s first official memorial by Chancellor Helmut Schmidt but pressured by his network to host the program, Rosenthal must choose between professional duty and personal conscience. As the broadcast approaches, he confronts buried memories, national expectations, and the challenge of reconciling fame, grief, and historical responsibility.
