Taking your advanced German skills to the next level

Are you someone who speaks German relatively well but wants to do even better? Then our advanced learners’ German courses are just what you’re looking for!

We offer intensive German courses and evening, morning or weekend courses for advanced learners at B1, B2, C1 or C2 level. After a placement test, which you can complete online or on-site, we will find the right level for you. You can then choose between an intensive course or an evening, morning or weekend course at your level.

The price of the course includes the placement test, all the teaching materials and a certificate of attendance. In addition, you will have free access to our Deutsch für Dich interactive learning platform and our state-of-the-art media libraries – meaning that you will not need to pay for extras, as other language course providers require-

You can get to know your fellow participants and your new home better on our intensive courses, which include a free and wide-ranging cultural and leisure programme.

You are also welcome to book accommodation for your advanced learners’ German course at one of our guesthouses, partner hotels or with a private host. 

Plus, you have the option of completing a certified examination (Goethe-Zertifikat) at any level. This is accepted by many employers and educational institutions as a recognised qualification.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

German B1 means that you can use the German language with relative independence after passing an advanced learners’ German course at B1 level. At B1 level, you will be able to understand the main points of a conversation in standard German on familiar matters from your work, university, school or leisure time. You will be capable of delivering simple and properly connected remarks on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. You will be able to describe events, dreams, hopes and ambitions, as well as briefly giving reasons and explanations for plans and opinions. You will be able to deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in German-speaking areas. 

If you wish, you can complete your B1-level advanced learners’ German course with an examination (Goethe-Zertifikat B1).

German B2 means that you can use the German language with relative independence after passing an advanced learners’ German course at B2 level. At B2 level, you will be able to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in your field of specialisation. You will be capable of interacting with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native German speakers quite possible without strain for either party. You will be able to express yourself clearly and in detail on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue, giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

German C1 means that you can effectively use the German language after passing an advanced learners’ German course at C1 level. At C1 level, you will be able to understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognise implicit meaning. You will be able to express yourself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. You will be capable of using the German language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. You will be able to express yourself in a clear, well-structured and detailed manner on complex subjects, using various devices in your language to produce a coherent and connected text..

German C2 means that you can effectively use the German language after passing an advanced learners’ German course at C2 level. At C2 level, you will be able to understand with ease virtually everything you hear or read in German. You will be able to summarise information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation. You will be capable of expressing yourself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in more complex situations.

We offer intensive courses and evening, morning or weekend courses for advanced learners at B1, B2, C1 or C2 level. On request, we can also offer you a personal selection of German individual and small group courses.

An advanced learners’ German course generally lasts between three and five weeks, depending on whether you are attending an intensive course or an evening, morning or weekend course.

An intensive course for advanced learners at level B1, B2, C1 or C2 lasts 10-16 days, including 80 lessons (each lasting 45 minutes). As a result, on average, you will have 5-8 lessons per day on the course.

An evening, morning or weekend course for advanced learners at level B1, B2, C1 or C2 lasts 20-24 days, including 72 lessons (each lasting 45 minutes). This means that, on average, you will have three lessons per evening, morning or weekend.

A three-week intensive course for advanced learners at level B1, B2, C1 or C2 – including 80 lessons – generally costs €1,099.

A four or five-week evening, morning or weekend course for advanced learners at level B1, B2, C1 or C2 – including 72 lessons – costs €670 to €980 depending on the course location.
