Why is Bertolt Brecht still important?

Bertolt Brecht is still celebrated worldwide today. His plays are performed in various Theaters around the world, his texts are read, the International Brecht Society publishes the Brecht Yearbook every year, the Brecht Festival takes place annually in his birthplace of Augsburg, there are Brecht Days in Berlin, for example, and the Theater publisher Suhrkamp publishes his books and manages his work. Documentary films are regularly made to present his works and discuss why Bertolt Brecht is still so important today.
