Key graphic for German Clubs

From 30 Sep - 3 Oct 2026, German Film Week London will bring contemporary German cinema to the city: from award‑winning debut and documentary films to exciting guest speakers and works by established directors, the week promises a diverse programme for film lovers and the curious alike. The German Film Week is divided into a public evening and weekend programme, and a schools programme at the Goethe-Institut London. To enable schools outside London to take part in the film week as well, we offer an exclusive German Film Week Kit – including films, workshop ideas, and posters.

    KinoTage for Schools
As part of our German Cinema Days KinoTage, we invite school groups aged 10–13, 14–16 and 17–18 to exclusive film screenings at the Goethe-Institut London. The screenings are accompanied by guest speakers from the film industry or themed workshops.

At the same time, KinoTage will tour across the UK: Schools that are unable to travel to London can take part by using our free KinoTage kit. This makes it easy to bring the festival experience directly to your classroom—flexibly and with minimal effort.

    The kit includes:

    • a selection of films available via streaming link
    • specially designed film and German language workshops
    • KinoTage posters to promote the festival within your school

    Tip:
KinoTage, our German Cinema Days, take place between the European Day of Languages (26 September) and German Unity Day (3 October) — the perfect opportunity to explore contemporary German cinema with your whole school community!

Exclusive selection for German learners in the UK

Our curated film selection for schools will be screened in morning sessions at the Goethe-Institut London from 30 September to 2 October. Schools outside London can access the films and accompanying workshops by ordering the KinoTage kit.

    Too Far Away (2019)

A friendship born from anthropogenic loss of home: when the village where 11-year-old Ben and his family live has to give way to open-cast lignite mining, they move to the city. There, Ben meets Tariq, whose family has fled Syria. Though they start out as competitors, the shared experience of a new beginning soon welds them together at school as well as the football club.

    The Ordinaries (2022)

In her visually playful and provocative science‑fiction film, Sophie Linnenbaum imagines a strictly hierarchical three‑class society on the brink of revolt. A sixteen‑year‑old  schoolgirl is abruptly displaced from her privileged world and finds herself in the slums, where she forms unexpected friendships and navigates a coming‑of‑age journey within a surreal film world that critically reflects themes of exclusion, xenophobia, and capitalist structures.

    22 Lengths (2025)

Caught between duty and desire, Tilda has spent years keeping her family afloat, working, studying and raising her little sister Ida, because their mother battles an alcohol addiction. When a new love and a life‑changing opportunity in Berlin beckon, she must decide what she owes to the ones she loves, and what she owes herself.
