Our historic building is worth exploring! Come along to Park Circus to see what the Goethe-Institut and the Alliance Française have to offer within their historic premises!

Explore our historic building:

Our premises were designed in 1857 by Glasgow architect Charles Wilson. They are a remarkable example of mid-19th century architecture, featuring a series of terraced Italianate townhouses in a grand oval shape. Our lounge and our garden are peaceful places for a rest.

“Park Circus is a remarkable thing, a Roman piazza on a Scottish hilltop. Its balanced mass, its strong and simple decoration, make a lasting impression of magnificence." J.M. Reid: "Glasgow"

In June 2026, the Goethe-Institut and Alliance Française along with Institut français d’Écosse openend Kultur Ensemble Glasgow. Under one roof, the cultural institutes of both countries jointly offer meeting places, cultural programmes and language courses.

Enjoy various events:

Discover the interactive 'Wuschel'-Exhibition. This multimedia exhibition invites children to explore the creative world of Axel Scheffler through a rich blend of visual, audio storytelling and hands-on creativity. Along the way, they’ll also pick up German words, though no prior knowledge of German is required, making the exhibition suitable for all. Opening times listed below.

See the exhibition Murmures Parallèles by Alliance Française, a project in collaboration with French artist Boris Allenou, which highlights the voices of French and French-speaking people living in Scotland. Opening times listed below.
