From June 2026, Kultur Ensemble Glasgow is creating a new framework for French-German-Scottish cooperation in Glasgow and Scotland. A cooperation between Alliance Française Glasgow and Goethe-Institut Glasgow, with support of Institut français d’Écosse, Kultur Ensemble Glasgow creates both a space for exchange and collaboration at the joint venue at Park Circus, and an opportunity for cultural cooperation across Scotland, strengthening European connections worldwide.
Kultur Ensembles bring Germany and France closer together. Under one roof, the national cultural institutes of both countries jointly offer meeting places, cultural programmes and language courses.
Highlights from Our Official Opening
On 3 June, Kultur Ensemble Glasgow in Scotland opened with a French-German language day. Fifty pupils from Gallowhill Primary School in Paisley and Hillhead Primary School in Glasgow joined us at 3 Park Circus for a day of workshops with renowned German illustrator Axel Scheffler (“The Gruffalo”, “Wuschel”) and Scotland-based French illustrator Marie-Alice Harel.
In the evening, we celebrated the opening with our guests and partners from the fields of culture, education, and politics. As a symbolic gesture of the long-term partnership, directors Stéphane Pailler, Nabila Lakouraï, and Hanna Dede watered a plum tree planted in the venue’s garden as a symbol of fruitful cooperation rooted in Glasgow.
The evening continued with two concerts by Glasgow-based artist Sonia Killmann and Alexandra Gruebler from Berlin, followed by a set from Scottish DJ James Iball, celebrating Glasgow’s status as a UNESCO City of Music.
The day includes language speak-dating in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Scots, Polish and Scottish Gaelic; a European quiz with prizes; a multimedia exhibition for children exploring the creative world of Axel Scheffler and an exhibition about French-speaking people living in Scotland.
