Curated films have been shown regularly since 2012 as part of the Arthouse Cinema series organized by Goethe-Institut Indonesia. This year Arthouse Cinema will take place in a new format. The films can be accessed online on Goethe-Institut’s Video-On-Demand platform.
Programmed by Anggraeni Dwi Widhiasih, the edition includes ten exemplary films of the New German Cinema. All Arthouse Cinema 2021 films can be accessed free of charge until 31 December 2021.
In addition to the film program, this year’s Arthouse Cinema will also feature film reviews of all films written by journalists, academics, bloggers and film professionals from various cities in Indonesia. The film reviews and profiles of the authors are available on the homepage of Goethe-Institut Indonesia.
To open and expand the dialogue with the Arthouse Cinema audience, an Arthouse Cinema Talk will also take place every two weeks from October to December 2021. Each talk session will feature the curator and two Arthouse Cinema 2021 film reviewers as well as a guest speaker from a specific academic discipline. Arthouse Cinema Talk will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of Goethe-Institut Indonesia.
