The Goethe-Institut New Delhi is seeking a dedicated and motivated Library Assistant for the Information and Library Department, starting on 2.01.2026 or later.
The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute, active worldwide. We promote the study of German abroad and encourage international cultural exchange.
As a LIBRARY ASSISTANT your tasks are:
- Manage social media communication for the Information and Library Department.
- Maintain the library website and design the department’s newsletter.
- Conduct school visits and organize events for German learners.
- Curate and coordinate digitally supported library services such as VR applications and PlayStation, including the handling of related devices (tablets, laptops, gaming accessories).
- Catalogue new media, manage weeding processes, and perform additional cataloguing tasks using the KOHA library software.
- Support the information and circulation desk and assist library visitors.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of library projects.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in social media management, particularly in creating posts and graphics.
- Strong affinity for digital technologies and social media trends.
- Excellent command of MS Office applications.
- Excellent English language skills (spoken and written); German language skills are an advantage.
- High level of social and intercultural competence.
- Flexibility and willingness to work on weekends.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team.
- Experience in library services is an asset.
