FABRIKA

Presentation of five works in progress

This year, Ettijahat together with the Goethe-Institut Libanon has supported 20 artists under the fourth edition of Laboratory of Arts programme. We approached a group of artists from Lebanon and Syria and invited them to present their new art projects, visions and the questions they wish to discuss through these projects.
Meet the Artist is an exceptional opportunity and an intimate experience to explore diverse works of art in the fields of cinema, music, visual installation and to get to know their creators within the exciting and inspiring space of FABRIKA, which was opened this year in Beirut.

Participants/Projects:

MINA - Double Vision

Double Vision by Ibraheem Ramadan: A documentary film that depicts a completion of the road map of Syria-Lebanon Rally, which was initiated in 1974 and later suspended due to war.

MINA - Lost

Lost by Faddoul Saad: An Oud Quartet album that expresses the Syrian reality from the beginning of war until now, through screening past events on music.

MINA - Ibrahim

Ibrahim by Lina Alabed: A documentary film about the director's journey to reconcile her with her family's story and affiliations. Her father, Ibrahim al-Abd, was a secret member of the Palestinian Revolutionary Council. In 1987, the director was six years old when her father left on a regular mission but never returned. She grew up in a home dominated by silence with her mother Najat, who made the decision to raise her five children in Damascus.

MINA . Douma I Love you

Milad Amin & Saeed Al Batal- Douma I Love You
The project is based on work with a group of civilian activists with artistic interests. The project enables them to produce artistic projects in the form of short film clips which revolve around the theme of “the city” and “everyday life”, within the same framework as the many “*Location*, I Love You” films of a similar theme.

MINA - Road to Home

Road to Home by Wael Kadlo: A documentary film through which the director seeks to analyze (family / civil) wars, and how we use ourselves as a tool of punishment and revenge against one another. The film is a family journey to find the courage to face difficult reality, and to discover possible ways towards reconciliation away from "destruction".

MINA - Marriage Contract

Marriage Contract by Raed Zeno
Installation opening on Saturday 2 December at Fabrika, 17:00

Marriage Contract aims to create an audio-visual space to explore the question of arranged marriages and honour in Arab societies in general and in the Syrian society in particular. The project openly and provocatively questions the social burdens of the past to allow us to reconsider old habits and traditions. This is achieved with local symbols and rituals shown in paintings, video art, and sound effects.
