The Goethe-Institut Myanmar, in collaboration with Myanmar YMCA and other partners, is excited to announce the 15th edition of the Science Film Festival in Myanmar. This year's festival will feature a hybrid format, offering both in-person screenings and online access through a video-on-demand service. The event will take place from November 16 to December 20, 2026.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Science Film Festival is a celebration of science communication in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America: In cooperation with local partners it promotes science literacy and facilitates awareness of contemporary scientific, technological and environmental issues through international films with accompanying educational activities. The event has grown considerably since its first edition in 2005, becoming the largest event of its kind worldwide.

In order to obtain the link to the films and the password for free streaming, you must first complete the registration process. The registration period will be from November 20 at 7 pm to December 20 at 12 pm.

Pre-Jury Members

Five pre-jury members with diverse expertise in science education, science communication, teacher training, gender and psychosocial support, youth engagement and community development are actively involved in the film selection process. Their extensive knowledge of the local context and target audiences helps ensure the relevance and accessibility of the selected films. To enhance audience engagement, nine selected films are translated and synchronized into local languages. The remaining films are screened in their original language with English subtitles, allowing participants to experience a broad range of international science stories while maintaining accessibility for local audiences.

Teaching Resources

In this section, facilitators, teachers and parents can find activities that connect to early learners, primary and secondary school films at the annual Science Film Festival. These include learning games, projects and hands-on experiments that can be done before or after visiting the festival to enrich the experience.
