Film festival with international silent films
Experience international silent films with live music accompaniment: The Goethe-Institut together with the Film Development Council of the Philippines, Instituto Cervantes, the Japan Foundation of Manila, the Philippine Italian Association and the embassies of Austria, France, Thailand and the USA proudly presents the 9th International Silent Film Festival.
This year’s silent films from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Philippines, Spain, Thailand and the USA will be shown from August 27 to August 30, 2015 at the Shang Cineplex of Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City. The films will be accompanied live by local and international musicians and bands.
Free Admission on a first-come-first served basis.
Berlin, Symphony of a Great City
Germany shows the silent film “Berlin, Symphony of a Great City” (“Berlin, Sinfonie der Großstadt”) on August 29, 5 pm. The symphonic documentary about the metropolis of Berlin is a famous silent classics and will be accompanied by a musical collaboration between the German composer, musician and conductor Pierre Oser, the Filipino musician and composer Jaimar Palispis and his band “Big Jazz Balloon”.
