The internationally acclaimed German pianist Wolfgang Glemser is to give a guest performance in Bangkok. The Goethe-Institut is delighted to be presenting this concert in its own auditorium, the Goethe Saal.
Glemser‘s training as a pianist began at a very early age and has been ongoing. He chose to combine his music studies at university with mathematics - a somewhat unusual combination for a student of music. Studying under the tutelage of Professor Vitalij Margulis, Glemser eventually decided to devote his time exclusively to music. Having successfully completed his degree at the College of Music in Freiburg, he went on to gain a diploma in concert performance - the highest possible performance degree - in Trossingen.
Glemser’s international career began when he won several important competitions in Italy. Since then the pianist has given many much-celebrated concerts in and outside Europe. Concert tours have taken him to South Africa, Central America and Asia.
In 1994, he was awarded the silver medal of merit by the University of Konstanz. Since 1996, Professor Glemser has taught at the BTU Cottbus. He is also an active member of the German Chopin Society and the Liszt Society in Weimar.
The extensive repertoire of this remarkable musician includes the works of Scarlatti, Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt. The following pieces can be heard at the concert in Bangkok:

Sonate No. 17 d-minor op. 31,2 'The Tempest' (1801/2)
