The Ministry of Culture Thailand and Fine Arts Department proudly present Miscellany of Khon — a documentary that will take you to the unexpected realm of Khon as seen through the eyes of a new generation, those that are familiar with contemporary arts yet appreciates the traditional spirit of Khon.
Miscellany of Khon is a documentary film led by Thanpuying Sirikitiya Jensen and directed by Jitti Chompee, consisting of 6 episodes: Thread, The Last Chui Chai, Femininity in male performers, Narration, Untold Stories, and Baak. The film does not present Khon itself but draws inspiration from Khon narration and particular techniques discovered from the research into traditional Khon, uncovered through extensive research.
By simplifying traditional ornamentation, the documentary emphasizes emotional resonance over decorative beauty. As the film unfolds, it reveals how art can foster autonomy and reflect the complexity of human emotion — contributing not only to aesthetics but to the cultivation of humanity itself and how it enhances one's freedom of autonomy.
