The Unfolding Kafka Festival is introducing an innovative festival model under the title Thailand Choreography Symposium 2026. Conceived as a hybrid choreography symposium and festival, it integrates artistic presentations, cultural research, professional exchange, and business development within one global platform.

Thailand Choreography Symposium 2026 is designed as a national and international knowledge-exchange platform, creating an open space for research, artistic creation, and shared experiences among choreographers, dancers, educators, scholars, arts managers, performance producers, and cultural policymakers. It seeks to foster dialogue and collaboration while advancing Thailand’s contemporary performing arts within a global context.

Key activities of the festival include:
  • International contemporary performances by Thai and international artists
  • Post-performance discussions on the development of Thai performing arts, from cultural roots to contemporary contexts
  • Knowledge and experience exchange on choreography and performance practices led by international artists and experts
Keynote speakers include Davy Brun (Director, Centre national de la danse (CND), Lyon), Laurent Meheust (Director, Le Gymnase CDCN), Eddie Nixon (Artistic Director, The Place, London), as well as internationally renowned contemporary artists such as Olivier Dubois, Hiroaki Umeda, Vitor Hamamoto, Hillel Kogan, Ron Cohen, Satoshi Kudo, and Pichet Klunchun.

Also joining the event are The Office of Performing Arts, Fine Arts Department (National Theatre), Khon Kaen Choreography Development, College of Music Mahasarakham University, and Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University.

Thailand Choreography Symposium 2026 is organised by the Unfolding Kafka Festival, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of France in Bangkok, the Goethe-Institut Thailand, and in collaboration with the National Choreography Centre of Thailand (NCCT).
