Fritz Lang – The Master of Visual

As introduction of this year’s silent film festival, the Goethe-Institut Thailand in cooperation with the Filmarchiv shows, two movies from and about Fritz Lang, the German-Austrian visionary of the silent and early audio film. Besides his cinematic milestones M and Destiny also a movie about Fritz Lang himself and the backgrounds of M – a city searches for a child-murderer, by Gaudian Maugg will be screened. Fritz Lang changed the German movie landscape but was also due to his special and promising presentation successful in Hollywood the world capital of the movie business. For many reasons therefore Fritz Lang can be seen as the master of visual, both in an audio and specific visual way.

Event programme:

13.00 Hrs. - Film screening of “M” (1931), German drama-thriller  directed by Fritz Lang

15.00 Hrs. - Film screening of ”Fritz Lang” (2016), the story of Fritz Lang while he’s seeking inspiration for his first sound film by immersing himself in the case of serial killer Peter Kürten.

17.00 Hrs. Movie talk “Fritz Lang: The Master of Visual” with  Prof. Dr. Nobert Grob, film scholar and film critic from Germany

Films will be shown in original German soundtrack with Thai and English subtitle. (Free admission)
