It’s the summer of 1989, and Hanna dreams of becoming a GDR Olympic swimmer. When her best friend Andreas is targeted by the authorities for “socialist re-education,” he decides to flee across the Baltic Sea to the West. Hanna, torn between two futures, decides to accompany him on the dangerous journey.
Director Sarah Neumann won the Audience Award and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the 2024 Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis, where lead actor Willi Geitmann also won Best Young Actor.
