To Our Dear Friends at the Goethe Institut,
It is with great pleasure that we wish you a happy 50th Anniversary! The Goethe Institut is one of the Bay Area’s cultural treasures and has done much to educate and bring people together over the decades. City Lights has worked together with the Goethe Institut on a variety of wonderful events. From the International Poetry Festival events through our Walter Benjamin symposium, from the 100th anniversary of Dada events through numerous individual poets and writers making their way through the store, these events have been an expression of good will and a great gift to the Bay Area bringing the richness of German culture into our consciousness. The many magnificent programs presented over the years have enriched our community. Please accept our warmest wishes. May the Goethe Institut continue to nourish the cultural life of the Bay Area and act as a beacon to international friendship for another fifty years and more.
