In the long history of the San Diego Early Music Society, Concerto Köln holds a very special place. Not only have they become dear friends, but they are also a consistent audience favorite. For their sixth appearance in San Diego, they will share the stage with star violinist Shunske Sato and virtuoso recorder player Max Volbers in another thrilling program of Baroque gems by Telemann, Vivaldi, Handel, Sammartini, and the reconstructed violin concerto BWV 1052R by J. S. Bach.

Passionate music-making and an unwavering curiosity for the unknown are the hallmarks of Concerto Köln. For almost 40 years the orchestra has been counted among the leading ensembles in historic performance practice, thanks to its distinctive sound. Deeply rooted in Cologne’s musical life while regularly appearing in the world’s great music capitals and at prestigious festivals, Concerto Köln stands for outstanding interpretations of early music.
