Mein Weg nach Deutschland
 Ensuring Successful Migration Journeys

We support people from non-EU countries who wish to migrate to Germany on a permanent basis for professional or personal reasons by preparing them for day-to-day living and the workplace. We offer a range of services to help them in their origin country before they depart and during the early days in Germany. Over the longer term, the goal is to encourage migrants to integrate with society in Germany.
The project offers are co-funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union.

The Bridge

From their Country of Origin to their Arrival in Germany

  • Pre-Integration

    The Goethe-Institut offers migrants a qualified preparation service for day-to-day living and the workplace in Germany, which they can access before leaving their origin country. Programmes include in particular targeted regional and intercultural content, as well as advice and learning support services. Labour migrants are an increasingly important target group, as well as joining spouses.

  • Transition Management

    New migrants are supported during the transition phase, starting immediately before departure and covering their initial orientation in Germany, and they are shown how to navigate the official integration pathway. This is achieved with a programme of information and advice offered in digital format and through in-person sessions.

Insights into the Project

  • Ensuring a successful migration process

    Good preparation is important to ensure a successful experience for new migrants in Germany. The Goethe-Institut is improving the diverse and long-standing services provided in the origin countries as well as in Germany to make arrival in Germany easier for people from different countries, with the project “Pre-integration and transition management – ensuring a successful migration process”, which has been running since mid-2023.

  • Building bridges together

    The Goethe-Institut has always supported people during their migration to Germany. What form does this support take? What works well? What else needs to be done? These were the focuses of an event entitled “Discover. Explore. Arrive. Outcomes of preparatory and early integration projects run by the Goethe-Institut, and immigration potential for qualified professionals”.

Forum: Prepare. Support. Arrive.

On 12 and 13 May 2025, stakeholders from politics, science, business and migrant self-organisations discussed the results of the project ‘Pre-integration and transition management - ensuring a successful migration process’ in Berlin.
