Transition Management

The Goethe-Institut helps immigrants get started in Germany, supports them upon arrival and ensures a seamless transition between pre-integration services abroad and (initial) integration services provided by the federal government. The demand for transition management services has been identified in various studies and evaluations. New migrants are supported through digital information and German language learning services on the “Mein Weg nach Deutschland” web portal, as well as in-person services in Germany in the form of contact persons.

Web portal „Mein Weg nach Deutschland“

During the preparation in the origin country, during the transition phase and upon arrival in Germany, migrants can use the free “Mein Weg nach Deutschland” web portal. On this web portal they will find a variety of texts providing information on day-to-day living and the workplace in Germany. This information is available in 30 languages, can be played as an audio recording in German, and is also available in video format with sign language interpretation. In addition, free multimedia learning resources and exercises are provided, as well as authentic real-life experiences in videos and podcasts relevant to the target group. Furthermore, there is an overview of all project locations and events worldwide as well as addresses for essential in-person services in Germany (such as information and welcome centres, integration course providers).

  • Infohäuser

The “Infohäuser” (Info houses) are available as in-person contact centres at 50 locations across Germany. They are aimed at people who are new to Germany and offer the opportunity to inform themselves about living and working in Germany, to find their way around the integration landscape and to use the “Mein Weg nach Deutschland” (My Path to Germany) web portal.
