Goethe-Institut Partners and Sponsors Photo: Goethe-Institut/Loredana La Rocca

For over 70 years, the Goethe-Institut has enjoyed an outstanding reputation, both in Germany and abroad, as Germany’s dialogue partner with the world, supporting projects with an exceptional profile and major public impact. Boasting a global network, it pursues close and long-term cooperation with educational and cultural institutions.

By working together with international partners and incorporating our institutes into the cultural life of the host countries, we create effective and credible dialogue processes aimed at mutual understanding. Our work conveys an up-to-date picture of Germany and thus ensures a realistic and nuanced perception of our country abroad. To this end we receive institutional funding from the Federal Foreign Office, which we supplement with revenue generated by our language courses.

The development of major projects depends, now more than ever, on people and institutions willing to support this kind of work. Additional resources from foundations and private sponsors help us to realize exceptional projects aimed at promoting international understanding and to assume responsibility.

You can support our work as a sponsor or supporter. If for example you would like to get involved in promoting the German language by supporting education or exchange projects, or if you want to deepen mutual cultural understanding through programmes in music, theatre and performing arts, please contact us. Together, we can reach many people and create a basis for lasting friendly relations.

What sets the Goethe-Institut apart is its worldwide network, which at the same time guarantees optimal fulfilment of its mandate.

The Goethe-Institut currently maintains 158 branches in 98 host countries, including 12 branches and the Goethe-Institut headquarters in Germany. These offer language, cultural and information services with a site-specific focus. At the same time, the institutes are at the heart of local networks, providing support to cultural associations, language learning centres and reading rooms. This gives rise to a network of almost 1,100 contact points in all.

Staging 18.000 cultural events each year - around two thirds of the events took place online or in a hybrid format - we pursue a very sizeable project portfolio. By partnering out-of-the-ordinary events, you obtain wide-ranging and unusual opportunities for addressing your target group.
