The event will feature the German film "Soul Kitchen", directed by Fatih Akin
and screened with English subtitles, along with a Bangla short film Puppet directed by Razib Ahsan. This screening is organized in collaboration with BUP Film Club (BUPFC) and IUB Film Club (IUBFC).

Synopsis:
After a painful breakup and a forced departure, Zinos returns to his beloved soul kitchen to find it struggling. The diner is deeply in debt and under threat from the local mob. Determined to revive the restaurant and reconnect with his loyal customers, Zinos reluctantly teams up with a new and inexperienced culinary partner. Together, they must overcome the challenges and try to restore the diner’s former glory, facing financial ruin and the loss of everything he cares about.

About Fatih Akin
Fatih Akin was born in 1973 in Hamburg of Turkish parentage. He began studying Visual Communications at Hamburg's College of Fine Arts in 1994. His collaboration with Wueste Film also dates from this time. In 1995, he wrote and directed his first short feature, "Sensin - You're The One!" ("Sensin - Du bist es!"), which received the Audience Award at the Hamburg International Short Film Festival. His second short film, "Weed" ("Getürkt", 1996), received several national and international festival prizes. His first full length feature film, "Short Sharp Shock" ("Kurz und schmerzlos", 1998) won the Bronze Leopard at Locarno and the Bavarian Film Award (Best Young Director) in 1998. His other films include: "In July" ("Im Juli", 2000), "Wir haben vergessen zurückzukehren" (2001), "Solino" (2002), the Berlinale Golden Bear-winner and winner of the German and European Film Awards "Head-On" ("Gegen die Wand", 2003), and "Crossing the Bridge - The Sound of Istanbul" (2005).

Synopsis: 
Jamshed, a hitman and his associate, Hares rummage through the city of Dhaka to hunt down a man completely in cyan --- cyan shirt, cyan pantaloons, cyan shoes. They end up on a boat in search of an almost non-existent man as per the command of their boss over phones while their evening tea waits; Jamshed’s romance for the night waits; Hares’ urge to use a gun for the first time waits. Once or twice an impatient Hares questions the sanity of such a search to which Jamshed asks him think less and follow orders (like a puppet). Finally, Hares gets a call; his long wait to shoot comes to an end and he gets to shoot. But he is not happy; he wails tear the night apart as he was one dumb-dirty puppet.

About Razib Ahsan:
Razib Ahsan is a Dhaka-based filmmaker. He became involved in the film society movement during his teenage years, which shaped his early passion for cinema. After completing his master’s degree from the Department of Television, Film & Photography at the University of Dhaka, he fully immersed himself in the world of filmmaking.
Razib has directed two short films and one feature film, with two more feature projects currently in development. Alongside filmmaking, he is a regular writer for national newspapers and film-related little magazines. He has also edited three books.
