A Project Assistant (male/female/diverse) for the EU-funded project “Halaqat”

The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global presence. We facilitate international cultural exchange, promote access to the German language and support the unimpeded development of culture and science.
Strengthening cultural actors in Europe and the MENA region to reflect on topics of gender equality, the new phase of the project “Halaqat” (www.goethe.de/belgium/halaqat) will be implemented by the Goethe-Institut in five countries (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Belgium) from fall 2024 until spring 2027.
The remit of the position will include the following main activities:
In this role the Project Assistant – M&E and GAP Officer will support the Project Manager in her project management tasks and be responsible for supporting project implementation, ensuring quality and results by:- Providing logistical support for the organisation and implementation of cultural
- activities, workshops and other meetings.
- Providing content support: Brainstorm on content for the activities, especially for the showcasing events and the final event in Brussels (possible artists, experts, etc)
- Preparing a variety of administrative documentation; initiate administrative procedures/transactions and ensure follow-up,
- Assisting in conducting the financial review of the project documents, monitoring of expenditure and budget in Brussels in collaboration with the Financial Officer in Kairo
- Assisting in the design and development of communication and marketing materials for the promotion of the project in Brussels. Work closely with the Communications Coordinator regarding project outreach and visibility, particularly with respect to Brussels-based policy makers and events.
- Facilitating communication, coordination and project reviews with project partners in Brussels and other.
- Being responsible for the monitoring and evaluation activities: coordinate the implementation of the project M&E plan and related reporting in the five countries
- Being responsible for the application platform (GAP): liaise with the GAP system specialist at HQ, provide GAP technical support; support the promotion of the open calls in the EU; assist/train jury members
- Undertaking any other tasks assigned by the project team to ensure the success of the work for the project
Our requirements - competencies:
- University degree (or equivalent), preferably in the fields of culture, arts, communication, social or political studies
- Knowledge of the local cultural scene, experience in the cultural field and enthusiasm for culture
- Project experience (preferably EU or large scale/regional/supraregional projects)
- Attention to detail and ability to organise, organisational skills, ability to work in a team, communication skills, self-motivated and objective driven
- Ability and sensitivity to work with a wide cross-section of partners
- Proficiency with project planning software used by the Goethe-Institut would be an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of English (oral, written, comprehension); knowledge of Arabic or German would be an advantage
