The Berlinale Forum is visiting Brussels in October. We will present a selection of four films from the Berlinale Forum 2020 program at the Bozar and the Cinema Galeries. In addition to films from Haiti, the Czech Republic and Austria, this year's program will also feature a Belgian film.

On the occasion of the Forum's 50th anniversary, the entire program from the Forum's first year in 1971 was shown during the Berlinale this year. We will present six films from this first edition in Brussels. The Forum is well known for showing new trends in world cinema without knowing any formal boundaries. Cristina Nord, the director of the Berlinale Forum, will conduct film talks with the directors.

About the Forum:

Avant-garde, experiment, essay, long-term observations, political reports, and still unknown cinematographies: The Berlinale Forum is the most venturesome part of Berlinale and epitomizes new movements in world cinema as well as innovative forms of storytelling. Formal restrictions in the choice of films are minor, whereas the freedoms are greater. The films presented in the forum straddle the border between art and cinema. The Berlinale Forum is an event organized by the Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art as part of the Berlin International Film Festival.
The „German Film Festivals on tour“-series is an initiative by Goethe-Institut Brussels and BOZAR Cinéma in cooperation with the Berlinale Forum, Arsenal – Institute for Film und Video Art and Cinema Galeries. The series is supported by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe, the Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe, as well as the Austrian Cultural Forum Brussels.
