Die Akte General, Stephan Wagner, 89 Min, 2015
The political drama sheds light on the historical figure Fritz Bauer, the Hessian Chief Public Prosecutor who was involved in the capture of Adolf Eichmann between 1959 and 1962.

Coming Out, Heiner Carow, 89 Min, 1989
East Berlin in the late eighties: Philipp, a young teacher, begins a love affair with his colleague Tanja. For years, he has kept his real sexual orientation a secret, until a re-encounter with his former gay friend, Jacob, once again makes him aware of his suppressed longings. In a gay bar, Philipp meets Matthias and falls in love with him. From then on, the teacher leads a double life. Tanja knows nothing about Matthias, nor does Philipp tell Matthias about his relationship with Tanja. It’s just a matter of time before things go awry. COMING OUT was the first and only feature film in the GDR to openly examine the theme of homosexuality. It premiered on 9 November 1989, the evening on which the Berlin Wall fell.

Fack ju Göhth, Bora Dagtekin, 113 Min, 2013
After a 13-month stretch in prison, the crook Zeki Müller is looking for the loot from his last robbery. He applies for a position as a janitor at the school, since, as it happens, the money is buried under the new school gym. However, Zeki lands a job as a supply teacher. He has to deal with a naive trainee teacher and problem kids who can’t even spell “Fuck you, Goethe” correctly. Thus, the young man unintentionally embarks on a career in education. Bora Dagtekin’s wild farce was the most successful German film of 2013.

In den Gängen, Thomas Stuber, 125 Min, 2018
Christian gets a new job as warehouse worker in the beverage department of a wholesaler — a world far removed from the shoppers. It would be an unbearably monotonous job, were it not for his coworkers and the hope of advancement to becoming a forklift operator. And were there not Marion, who works in the confectionary department – and with whom Christian is head over heels in love. When he finds out that Marion is married, his world falls apart. Bruno, the senior forklift operator and fatherly friend, can hardly help him there — and then, suddenly, Bruno is gone.

Casting, Nicolas Wackerbarth, 91 Min, 2016/17
Vera wants to make a remake of Fassbinder’s THE BITTER TEARS OF PETRA VON KANT, but wants the role of Karin Timm (played, in Fassbinder's film, by Hanna Schygulla) to be taken by a man. She finds choosing a lead actress difficult as, unsuccessfully, she tests one candidate after another. Gerwin, a failed actor, has taken on the task of audition reader, initially without any prospect of landing a part in the film. Soon, however, he wants more than just the part of a stooge and begins scheming. Producer Manfred becomes ever more impatient because of the director’s demands. Gerwin's ambitious hope for a big role is shattered – he’s left with just a small appearance.

Alle Anderen, Maren Ade, 124 Min, 2009
In a holiday mood filled with yearning on the island of Sardinia, far removed from everyday life, a couple’s problems with freedom and conformity take a dramatic turn for the worse. The intimate and all-too-familiar feelings, situations and behaviour patterns are conveyed by outstanding actors in such a real and lifelike manner that it almost hurts.
