Halina Kliem’s short film
The AIs is an experimental tale on learning and unlearning, mind and labor, dynamics of bias, and a dialogue between human and non-human entities. The film explores the beliefs of humans about themselves and looks into feedback loops, chaotic systems, and historical-pattern-replicating machines. To be continued...
About Halina KLiem
Halina Kliem is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in the divided city of Berlin. She uses a combination of media, including video, photography, and the written word, to explore variations and gaps in language and communication. She has always been interested in non-human beings, the human condition, and the space between science and alternative bodies of knowledge. Her time based media installations have been on view at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, Los Angeles (USA); Kunstmuseum Bonn (Germany); Victoria and Albert Museum, London (UK); Lentos Museum of Modern Art, Linz (Austria); Neue Aachener Kunstverein (Germany); and Pace Gallery, New York (USA). Her experimental short films The Purple Video, Lucid Dreams as well as The AIs have premiered at the Brooklyn Film Festival (USA), Florida Film Festival (USA), Athens International Film and Video Festival (USA), Goethe Institute San Francisco and London Short Film Festival (UK). She studied experimental film, photography, and sound at Carnegie Mellon College of Fine Arts in Pittsburgh and holds a Master of Fine Arts and Visual Culture Studies from the Universität der Künste Berlin in Germany. She lives in Los Angeles and Berlin.
