The Lisez l´Europe reading circle will focus on the catalan  novel Le temps des cerises, by author Montserrat Roig, published in French in 2024.

The meeting will be moderated in French by Élisabet Ràfols, lecturer in Catalan studies and head of the CTL1140 Panorama de la littérature catalane course at the Université de Montréal.
 
About the author:

Montserrat Roig i Fransitorra is a Catalan journalist and writer.
In 1971, she won the Mercè Rodoreda de contes i narracions prize for her collection Molta roba i poc sabó... i tan neta que la volen, and from then on devoted herself to literature. She published a cycle of novels, with works such as Ramona adéu (1972), which portrays three generations of women in the Catalan context of the time; she also worked as a journalist committed to the feminist cause, and gained great popularity with interviews later published in the Retrats paral-lels (Parallel Portraits, 1975 and 1976) series. Els catalans als camps nazis (1977) won her the Serra d'Or prize.
In 1977, she joined the Catalan channel Televisión Española, where she produced a similar program called Personatges, later published in two collections.
