Through the collaboration of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Goethe-Institut Montreal and fabrik Potsdam – Internationales Zentrum für Tanz und Bewegungskunst, choreographer Kihako Narisawa and dancer Sonoko Kamimura have received a residency in the studios of Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique. During their stay, they will be working on a new project entitled FIGURATIVE and based on the influence of our cultures of origin on verbal and nonverbal communication.
 
Kihako Narisawa
Born in Tokyo, Japan, Kihako Narisawa is a physical performing artist, choreographer and visual artist living in Frankfurt (Germany) and Basel (Switzerland). She received a B.A. in art, in the bachelor program of Dance at Codarts in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where she studied from 2004 to 2006. She also studied at the Ecole supérieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower from 2002 to 2004. Upon completion of her formal dance and art studies, she had the opportunity to work with various creatives in the European dance scene. She has had engagements as a professional dancer/artist with the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza Aterballetto under the direction of Mauro Bigonzetti in Reggio Emilia (Italy) from 2005 to 2009, at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden – Thoss Tanzkompanie under the direction of Stephan Thoss in Wiesbaden (Germany) from 2009 to 2013, and at Ballet Basel under the direction of Richard Wherlock from 2013 to 2016. During that period, she had the opportunity to present works in the aforementioned companies as part of young choreographers evenings as well as in independent scene spaces, mostly in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Kihako Narisawa has been working as a freelance artist since 2016. She has received creation residencies in order to develop FIGURATIVE, an ongoing conceptual work she has presented on different occasions. FIGURATIVE is supported by the Hessisches Staatsballett - Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and Staatstheater Darmstadt, ZAIK Cologne, Braswell Arts Center Basel.

Sonoko Kamimura
Born in Gifu, Japan, Sonoko Kamimura is a contemporary dancer living and working in Frankfurt (Germany). She joined the Scapino Ballt Rotterdam from 2011 to 2013 and the Forsythe Company in 2015 as a guest dancer. She started the nullos dance collective together with Kihako Narisawa in 2016.
