Salle Multi

This kinetic installation suspended in the heart of the gallery calls to mind a short-winded artificial lung. The work, composed of plastic bags and fans, refers to the ecological crisis causing distress the world over. Here, the excess plastic polluting every environment touched by human hands is magnified by Völker’s poetic and contemplative piece. The captivating work invites viewers to observe the composition slowly and silently, as it juxtaposes the natural movement of breath with its artificial copy.

This disposable ballet reveals tensions between nature and machine. Breath and its rhythm, the very foundation of life, become exchanged for programmed and relentless choreography. The minimalist and repeated sound of the alternated crumpling and stretching of the plastic walls pulses in time with the visitor’s breath. The artist’s interest is in this physical connection between the audience and its projection upon the work. The fans’ thrust makes unsettling organic beats and welds strange connections between the Tyvek skin and the skin of our own bodies.

About the Mois Multi
