Dossier directed by Itay Sapir

"Friedrich Nietzsche: current or inactual? Legitimate reference or source of all evil for 150 years? Brilliant or dangerous? Brilliant and dangerous?" A century and a half after the publication of the philosopher's first work, The Birth of Tragedy (1872), this issue of Spirale revisits the paradoxical legacy of Nietzsche's work and questions its contemporary relevance in light of the uses and misuses to which it is - or can be - put even today. Through a variety of approaches, the texts gathered in this issue take into account the aesthetic and political issues raised by Nietzsche's thought in the twenty-first century, inviting us to reflect on the multiple possibilities it continues to hold, but also, in spite of everything, on its undeniable limits and contradictions.
