“As We Were Dreaming” (Als wir träumten) is a film by Andreas Dresen. It depicts the struggle young people face when they are searching for a perspective after the German reunification. A clique of four boys from Leipzig, in the former GDR, steals cars, tries drugs and founds a techno club. The film had its premiere at the 65. Berlinale in February 2015.

The film will be shown in German with English subtitles. Afterwards there will be a moderated discussion.
This year Canada is commemorating its 150th anniversary. To celebrate, the Goethe-Institut will run a special program, “Germany @ Canada 2017 – Partners From Immigration to Innovation,” showcasing the close relationship between Germany and Canada.
Join us for an exciting edition of the Deutscher Filmklub all year long, where we will show our top 10 German film favourites from 1930-2015. From classics to contemporary movies, come for the screening and enjoy the discussion in German and English afterwards!
