Stephan Lessenich

(born: 1965 in Stuttgart), Sociologist

Stephan Lessenich studied Sociology, Politics and History in Marburg with a doctorate from Bremen and post-doctoral qualification from Göttingen. He was a Professor of Sociology at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and is currently a professor at the Institute for Sociology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. Stefan Lessenich has written various non-fiction books, including Living Well at Others' Expense: the Hidden Costs of Western Prosperity (2016), Die Externalisierungsgesellschaft und ihr Preis (2016) and Grenzen der Demokratie: Teilhabe als Verteilungsproblem (2019).
