Carolin Seeliger explores marine landscapes and the relationship between humans and the nonhuman world. Working with experimental photography, often camera-less, she invites landscapes and non-human agents into a shared creation. By stepping back from the camera and her own human gaze, she works with UV-light sensitive papers and fabrics directly in the landcape, creating space for earth, water, algae, animals, and organisms to participate as active agents in the photographic process. The resulting works can be understood as collaborative photographic drawings, whose  athorship extends beyond the artist to include the landscape and the non human world itself. Seeliger collaborates in long-term research projects with scientists, engaging with themes such as the role and symbolism of marine plastic and algae. In 2023, she took part in a residency aboard a polar expedition vessel, circumnavigating Spitsbergen, followed by other residencies in oceanic landscapes.

She lives with her family in Berlin. Her works have been exhibited internationally in public spaces
and galleries.
