Literature and Conversation - online

This course is designed for advanced students, who would like to discuss literature and literary topics in an enjoyable atmosphere. Any student with level C1 or higher can join.
 
Course participants will decide together on which literary texts you wish to focus on. You will interpret the texts together, give short presentations and research relevant topics, during which there will always be time to discuss culture, politics, and history. In Term 1, 2026, we will be discussing „Der Zauberberg“ by Thomas Mann.

Titel: German Meets Art: Exploring the World of Henry Moore

Explore artworks together in German and experience sculptures in Kew Gardens.
The world's largest Henry Moore exhibition arrived in London! Let us discover the world of this artist together.

During the first three sessions, we will explore Henry Moore's biography, inspirations, and works at the Goethe-Institut. We will learn to understand and describe the artform of sculptures.

On the fourth session, we will visit the exhibition at Kew Gardens and see various sculptures firsthand. These are placed within the unique natural setting of Kew Gardens, creating a dialogue with the historic landscape and trees!

Entrance to Kew Gardens is not included in the course fee.

Politics and Society

In this course, you will deepen your language skills and expand your understanding of current social and political issues.
Together, we will read and analyse newspaper articles, practise persuasive presentations, discuss films with a social focus, and engage with literature. The aim is to refine your ability to express yourself at an advanced level and to give you confidence in participating in complex discussions.

Keep up your German

This course is designed for advanced students and focuses on the debate of current topics. At times we will also revise an important grammatical aspect. Any student with level C1 or higher can join.
Our course deals with a broad array of topics: from current political developments, literature, art and science to new cultural trends in Germany. The course is suitable for participants, who speak German fluently (C1/C2) and wish to focus on discussions, including the occasional challenging grammatical topic.

Culture at Noon

This course is designed for intermediate students and you will discuss different cultural topics in a relaxed atmosphere. Any student with level B2 or higher can join.
