Becoming a Young Goethe Ambassador offers meaningful personal, academic, and professional benefits. It is a great opportunity for young people to gain experience, grow in confidence, and make a positive impact on younger learners.

What we offer

  • Travel fees for school visits
  • A volunteer certificate
  • A voucher per visit
  • Training workshops and support will be offered to all Young Goethe Ambassadors

German Club Leaders

As an alternative to, or in addition to, ad‑hoc school visits and one‑off presentations, Young Goethe Ambassadors can take on the role of German Club Leaders. In this role, they run fun and engaging clubs for younger learners — either at their own school or at a nearby primary school. This enables them to share their enthusiasm for German, support beginners, and help build a vibrant language‑learning community. At the same time, they develop their own leadership skills by committing to a single school for a term or longer and offering regular sessions (weekly or fortnightly).

Advantages of Becoming a YGA

  • Take part in an enriching activity beyond school or university, gaining insight into education, cultural exchange, and outreach.
  • By leading workshops and speaking to classes, ambassadors naturally develop strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • The role helps ambassadors strengthen key skills such as organisation, teamwork, time management, and public engagement—useful for future studies and job applications.
  • Ambassadors are invited to support additional activities such as school outreach events, career roadshows, or Goethe‑Institut campaigns.
  • Young Goethe Ambassadors join a community of like‑minded young people. Previous cohorts have taken part in group training, peer‑exchange sessions, and multi‑day school‑touring projects.
  • Above all, ambassadors help younger pupils discover the joy of language learning and contribute to a more open, diverse, and multilingual society.
