We are offering a zero-hours contract for a Receptionist (cover staff). This means there is no guarantee of hours; instead, you will be offered shifts as and when required. We are particularly interested in students or freelance candidates who are available to work with us over a longer period (ideally at least one year, preferably two to three years).
Our reception is staffed Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 19:00 by a team of in-house colleagues who collectively cover these hours.
Cover shifts are typically required when members of the regular reception team are absent due to annual leave, training, or illness. Shift times may vary between 09:45 and 19:00, Monday to Friday.
If you are interested in joining our cover team, it is important that you are flexible, able to respond at short notice, and can react quickly. We do not expect you to be available at all times, but we do expect you to respond within a few hours and to reliably honour any shifts you have accepted.
We usually prepare a rota for a two-month period and ask the cover team to indicate their availability. We then aim to allocate shifts as fairly as possible. In addition to these planned shifts, we particularly appreciate availability at short notice to cover sickness absence.
For shifts exceeding six hours, we are legally required to include a 30-minute unpaid break.
The current pay rate is £15.50 per hour, plus accrued holiday pay (an additional 17.12%). Hours worked up to mid-month are normally paid at the end of the same month through our standard payroll system, with tax and National Insurance contributions deducted where applicable.
