Silvia Bastow

Hi, my name is Silvia and I am Head of Languages and Specialist Leader in Education for MFL at Ercall Wood Academy in Shropshire, West Midlands, which is a part of the Learning Community Trust, Telford. I am extremely passionate about research-based education and the promotion of languages, especially German, to students ranging across KS3 and KS4. I have over 18 years of teaching experience in the state sector and have been Subject Leader for 12 years, as well as a Research Lead for 3 years. As a SLE for MFL, a GCSE Examiner, a FCCT and a ALL Council member, I am committed to providing high quality languages education for our young people.

I believe it is extremely important to promote languages and their usefulness in future careers and the workplace to students and this has enhanced my work as both a ECT/ITE mentor, and someone with a passion for CPD at both a department and whole school level, being a national CPD provider.
