Wuschel
An immersive Exhibition for Primary Schools

Following its highly anticipated release in the Autumn of 2024, Wuschel auf der Erde is coming to the Goethe-Institut London in the form of a special, interactive exhibition.
Launching on the 17th of March, the exhibition will be for children aged 5 to 11, and is based on the popular language-learning book illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
The exhibition can be visited directly at the Goethe-Institut London or ordered as an exhibition kit for your school and displayed there.
It invites young visitors to step into the artist’s world, to immerse themselves in the German language in a playful way, and to explore their creativity.

About the exhibition

This multimedia exhibition invites children to explore the creative world of Axel Scheffler through a rich blend of visual, audio storytelling and hands-on creativity. Along the way, they’ll also pick up German words, though no prior knowledge of German is required, making the exhibition suitable for all primary schools.
The exhibition can be experienced in two ways – either on-site as a German Day at the Goethe-Institut London or as an exhibition kit directly at your school.
  1. Wuschel German Days at the Goethe-Institut London
Featuring original drawings and sketches by Axel Scheffler, these are taking place on:
  • 16 April 2026
  • 4 June 2026
  • 16 June 2026
2. Exhibition Kit for Schools
Schools can also order the exhibition as a kit and display it themselves on site.
The kit includes:
  • A3 posters with illustrations and texts
  • Short videos that bring the characters to life
  • Audio tracks accompanying the story
  • A booklet full of interactive tasks designed to spark curiosity and imagination
Even without the original artwork, the kit allows children to dive into Wuschel’s world, design their own masks or respond creatively to the illustrations.
In both versions, students explore the exhibition in small groups, guided by a teacher at the beginning and end of the session. They move through seven stations, each representing a day of the week.
The full experience takes about 2 hours.
