The Goethe-Institut offers the unique teacher training course DLL (Deutsch Lehren Lernen) which incorporates the principle of professional development through collaborative action research. This course combines module 1 “Lehrkompetenz” and 6 “Unterrichtsplanung”.

Teachers of German can:
- enhance their current language and communication skills and competencies
- broaden their understanding of MFL pedagogy
- cover the content in module 1 “Lehrkompetenz” and module 6 “Unterrichtsplanung” and learn:
- about the importance of learning objectives and how to devise tasks and activities that achieve the intended learning outcomes
- to enhance their competencies to achieve the learning outcomes
- to explore and enhance their own teaching philosophy, teaching environment and effective teaching materials
- how to teach German as a Foreign Language systematically and appropriately at primary level and/or in accordance with the new GCSE and A-levels- how to evaluate the quality of learning activities and exercises they plan for their lessons
- how to devise exercises and tasks to support interactive learning
- how to select, plan and implement appropriate individual, pair and group work tasks facilitating interaction between learners to help them make progress
- experience how a teacher-led investigative model supports CPD and how this classroom based research can be facilitated
- discover how learning by experiencing, and observing with professional support and interaction, enhances:
- training of strategies for independent, professional development
- the development of more task-based and interactive teaching
- the exchange of best practice examples, ideas and insights
- offering participants the opportunity to work in their own time
- collaborating with the group in online activities
- receiving ongoing online support from experienced teacher trainers Liz Black and Sabine Junker
