Our library is open to everyone.
You can use our media free of charge in the library rooms.
A
valid library card is required to borrow books and audiovisual media. This will be issued by the Goethe-Institut London upon presentation of your identity card (e.g. driving licence, bills, etc.) and payment of the membership fee.

Please note the data protection information for library users, the latest version of which is available in OPAC and at the library reception desk. Users are obliged to notify the library immediately of any changes to their data or the loss of their library card.
Loans:
A maximum of 10 books and 3 DVDs may be borrowed. Reference works are excluded from borrowing.
The loan period is:
4 weeks for books (renewable four times)
2 weeks for DVDs (renewable four times)
The online catalogue is available for renewals.
If the loan period is exceeded, we charge a fee of 10p per day and media unit, and 20p per day and DVD for DVDs.
Notifications, receipts and reminders regarding borrowed media are sent electronically by email. Consent for this can be revoked at any time in writing to the library staff.
Reservations for media that are currently on loan are possible. We ask that all media be treated with care. Users are liable for loss or damage. The type and amount of compensation is determined by the library. A flat fee of £15 applies to media that are no longer commercially available.
The terms of use published on the website apply to the use of the Onleihe.

Behaviour in the library:
- The library is subject to the general house rules of the Goethe-Institut London. The instructions of the staff must be followed.
- All users must behave in such a way that other visitors and library operations are not disturbed.

- Personal laptops and electronic playback devices may be used with headphones.
- Please refrain from making online or telephone calls.
- Bags must be locked in the lockers provided. The library is not liable for the loss of personal property.
- Non-alcoholic beverages may be brought into the library. Smoking and eating are not permitted in the library.
- Persons who violate the rules of use or house rules may be excluded from using the library.
- The library reserves the right to revise the rules of use at any time. Changes will be announced on our website.
