The Goethe-Institut London is looking for a Lead Manager for Educational Services (m/f/d). The position is full-time, with a working week of 39 hours. This corresponds to 100% of our full weekly working time, which is 39 hours. The position is remunerated in accordance with the current remuneration scheme for local Goethe-Institut staff in the United Kingdom. The starting salary is £43,224 per annum, and the annual leave entitlement is 26 days plus public holidays for full-time employees, increasing based on length of service. The Goethe-Institut also offers a pension scheme contribution plan. The place of employment is London.

Duties comprise:

  • Strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes around student motivation for primary and secondary schools in cooperation with relevant partner institutions
  • Strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of youth mobility programmes in the extracurricular sector in the United Kingdom and Germany in cooperation with local and German partners
  • Planning and implementation of programmes for the further training and professional development of German teachers, both digitally and in-person
  • Participation in the implementation of language policy activities
  • Participation in the organisation and implementation of language and education fairs
  • Planning and implementation of student workshops and school events for primary and secondary (all schools types), both digital and in-person
  • Advising education authorities, other partners and institutions relevant to German language learning and teaching on all issues relating to language teaching in German, particularly at primary level (curricula, lesson planning, methodology/didactics, linguistics, literature and regional studies, including language policy issues)
  • Carrying out promotional activities for German language teaching in schools
  • Participation in the administration and organisation of target group-specific scholarship programmes
  • Performing job-related administrative tasks and project management, including acquisition of third-party funding, budget management and monitoring, and reporting

Requirements:

  • University degree (preferably in German studies/German language, educational sciences or education management)
  • Experience in project management
  • Knowledge of the education system in the United Kingdom, especially in the field of German language teaching
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the methodology/didactics of language teaching
  • Experience in professional development didactics, project work, networking and teacher training
  • Experience in the use of digital media in teaching and in teacher training
  • Intercultural competence and negotiating skills
  • Willingness to travel frequently
  • Confidence in challenging situations
  • Strong social skills and a high level of willingness to work in a team
  • Willingness to engage in intercultural learning
  • Very good German and English language skills
  • Good knowledge of MS 365
  • A residence and work permit for the United Kingdom
Desirable:
  • Teaching qualification for primary or secondary schools (including at least one language or German) or equivalent knowledge and skills
  • At least one year of training and experience in German language teaching
  • Experience in international project work with young people
  • Experience in acquiring and managing third-party funding
