In Wolf Haas' new novel, a dazzling display of literary pyrotechnics styled after one of M. C. Escher’s impossible drawings, two different stories gradually intertwine to solve each other. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Wolf Haas was born in 1960 in Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer. For his work, he has received, among other honours, the Bremen Literature Prize, the Wilhelm Raabe Prize and the Jonathan Swift Prize. He published the novels Das Wetter vor 15 Jahren (2006), Verteidigung der Missionarsstellung (2012) and Junger Mann (2017), as well as nine Brenner detective novels, most recently Müll (2022). His latest publications with Hanser include the novel Eigentum (2023), which received the Erich Kästner Prize in 2024, and Wackelkontakt (2025). Wolf Haas lives in Vienna.
